Singapore Market ends 0.2% higher

The Singapore stock market finished choppy session slightly higher on Thursday, 28 September 2023, led by shares of local lenders and blue chips stocks, while China's property woes and uncertainty before a key U.S. inflation reading due on Friday kept investors on tenterhooks.

At closing bell, the Straits Times Index (STI) index was up 6.96 points, or 0.22%, to 3,206.99 after trading between 3,196.44 and 3,210.13. Volume of 1.28 billion shares worth S$919.92 miillion changed hands. There were 281 gainers and 293 decliners.

Hongkong Land was the top gainer on the STI, rising 4% to US$3.61, while the Frasers Logistics and Commercial Trust was the biggest decliner, falling 2.8% to S$1.06.

Sharers of local lenders advanced. UOB added 0.14% to S$28.28, OCBC Bank rose 0.4% to S$12.80 and DBS grew 0.2% to S$33.50.
